Beginner Finishing: Square/Rectangle Ornament

Description: In this class you will learn from LeightAnne Tucci how to finish a square/rectangle canvas into an ornament or hanging sign using the lacing technique, without any glue. Class is open to beginners who have never tried their hand at finishing, or anyone who is looking to hone their technique.

What You Will Learn:

  • How to properly cut the canvas.
  • Choosing and attaching backing materials.
  • How to make cording.

Materials:

Students will bring:

  • a fully stitched, blocked canvas, and a photocopy of that stitched canvas
  • backing material (at minimum a fat quarter for the ornament)
  • full skeins of thread for cording (2 skeins for solid color cording, and 1 skein each if doing multiple colors). At most we can do four colors.
  • Optional: if you habitually use reading or magnifying glasses and/or a book lamp to stitch, please bring them with you to the class.

Students will be provided with all other materials.

A Note on Cancellations & Refunds

We're thrilled to welcome LeighAnne Tucci back for this special August series. Because she's traveling from out of state, we commit to her travel, lodging, and teaching fees well ahead of the weekend — so every seat is truly spoken for the moment you reserve it.

With that in mind, our policy for this series:

    • More than 7 days before your class: Full refund or store credit, your choice.
    • Within 7 days of your class: We're unable to offer refunds, as our costs for the weekend are already committed. You're always welcome to transfer your spot to a friend — just let us know who's taking your place.

We don't take this policy lightly, and we know life happens. Thank you for understanding — we can't wait to sit down and stitch with you.
